Bridgit Antoinette Evans is an award-winning actor, producer and humanitarian who has performed across the US and in South Korea, South Africa, UK, France and Brazil. A great fan of new play development, she has appeared in readings, workshops, or productions at The Public Theater, Classical Theater of Harlem, Primary Stages, Urban Stages, Playwrights Horizons, New York Theater Workshop, Lincoln Center Theater, Hip Hop Theater Festival, Arena Stage, ACT, Seattle Rep, and Eugene O’Neill Theater Center, in plays by Radha Blank, Keith Josef Adkins, Tracey Scott Wilson, Suzan-Lori Parks, Carl Hancock Rux, Alex Beech, Derek McPhatter, Akin Salawu and other writers. Trained by Kristin Linklater at Columbia University (MFA), Bridgit is also an avid performer of Shakespeare, with Off Broadway/regional roles including Kate in Andrei Serban’s Taming of the Shrew, Paulina in Cynthia Croot’s Winter’s Tale, Maria in Robert Cohen’s Twelfth Night, and Richard in Jeanette Stamen’s adaptation of Richard III/Henry VI.
Bridgit is also the founder of FuelChange.net , a creative studio that produces collaborations between artists and human rights organizations. She served as Executive Producer and a lead actor in the historic presentation of Suzan-Lori Parks’ VENUS in Capetown, South Africa, and in the gala benefit performance of the play at The Public Theater/NYSF alongside Oscar-winner Tim Robbins, Kathleen Chalfant and Joe Morton. Her performances or productions have been featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show, CNN, ABC News, SABC TV, Access Hollywood; and in Village Voice, NY Times, USA Today, Essence, VIBE, MTV, American Theatre Magazine and more.
Also a public speaker, Bridgit has offered popular talks and lectures on art and social change at Columbia University, NYU, Stanford University, Hunter College, FUNDA College/Soweto, and other institutions. Bridgit began writing novels at the age of four — a series of scintillating tales primarily centered around the nefarious adventures of Peter Rabbit. Today, her subject matters range from ethnic tensions in London in the months before September 11th, to the search for love in a world in conflict. Her first book of poetry, My Love Is Another Country, will be published in 2012.
A quintessential ‘third culture kid’, Evans was born in Germany and raised in Italy, Japan and Hawaii before attending Stanford University (BA) and Columbia University (MFA). She lives in New York City.
